LADWP Rolls Out 2023-2026 Strategic Plan
By Carol Tucker
To address the changing needs of our customers and the challenges facing the water and power industries, LADWP has developed a new Strategic Plan that establishes an updated mission statement and a core strategy for achieving measurable objectives and goals over the next three years.
The 2023-2026 Strategic Plan was shared widely with employees on June 29. Developed over the past year by LADWP’s leadership team, the plan is informed by a thorough analysis of the threats and opportunities presented to the Department by the environment in which we operate as well as our internal strengths and limitations.
Since the prior Strategic Plan was adopted in 2016, there have been significant changes in our customers’ priorities, the business climate for electric and water utilities and the policies set by lawmakers and regulators.
“The 2023-26 Strategic Plan is the most ambitious planning effort of its kind undertaken at LADWP, and includes specific goals and objectives with deadlines and accountability. We undertook this effort with the support of the Board because the Department’s strategic mission, core strategy, objectives and goals needed to evolve to meet the needs and challenges of today’s customers, the environment and marketplace. We also needed to reset our priorities and ensure our goals are achievable while continuing to provide reliable water and power in ways that are equitable and economical for our customers. I encourage all employees to review it and follow along as it is updated quarterly.”
