Aram Benyamin Returns to LADWP as COO
Aram Benyamin was appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) of LADWP on November 21, 2022. Benyamin returns to LADWP from Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU), where he served the past four years as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He initially joined CSU as the General Manager of Energy Supply in 2015 following his retirement from LADWP as one of our top Power executives. He began his career at LADWP as an entry-level engineer.
In his role as COO, Benyamin will oversee the core operations responsible for delivering water and power and supporting the physical environment the Department operates in. Effective December 5, 2022, the following Departmental organizations began reporting to the COO:
- Power System
- Water System
- Corporate Services
- Corporate Health & Safety
- Information Technology Services
This structure will allow General Manager and Chief Engineer Martin L. Adams to better focus on LADWP’s external and customer-facing strategic efforts, rate structure modernization and key internal-facing efforts centering on company culture, diversity, equity and inclusion, and meeting our human resource challenges.
Benyamin brings a wealth of utility executive experience to this position. As the CEO of a highly regarded public utility, he managed CSU through its own Integrated Resource Plan to lay out the next decades of that city’s energy future, accelerated their resiliency and conservation efforts in the face of prolonged drought and the Colorado River crisis and directed innovative business solutions to leverage fiber, technology and modernization. He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering, and master’s degrees in both business administration and public administration.
Benyamin is located in Room 1520 of the John Ferraro Building and can be reached on ext. 70387.
